Cahir Junior B hurlers gave their all in an exciting semi-final against Clerihan played in difficult conditions in Ned Hall Park on Sunday at 12 noon. Cahir played with the strong wind in the first half, and led by seven points to one goal and three points at half time. We had opportunities for both goals and points playing with a strong wind in the first half but our half time lead would prove to be inadequate. However, despite playing against the strong wind in the second half, we were competing well and in the game to the very end. At the second water break we were just one point behind, 1-10 to 1-9. However, we were tiring and Clerihan got a second goal to lead by 6 points going into the last five minutes. We finished strongly with the final two points coming from Conor O’Brien and Dean Lonergan. Great credit is due to the management of Larry Molan and Tomas Kelly, and to the players themselves who gave their all throughout the year. We wish a speedy recovery to Daragh Howard and Ciaran O’Donnell who were injured in the last two matches. The team and scorers were as follows; Thomas Molan, Liam O’Neill, James Walsh, Keelan Looby, Eoin O’Neill, Liam Meehan, Mark Casey, Conor O’Brien (0-6), Liam Hickey, Killian Halpin (0-1), Ger Quinn (0-3), Benny Hickey, Diarmaid McFadden. Ciaran O’Donnell, Conor Kelly, Subs Used: Dean Lonergan, Brian McKenna, Aaron Condon.
Next Sunday is a very important day for the Cahir Club when our senior footballers face a relegation battle with Arravale Rovers. We need a fully fit team as this is a must win game. It’s been a tough year for our senior footballers but the team has played very well at times and a bit of luck could have changed some results. Best of luck to all the players and mentors involved.
Draw the Joker
Congratulations to Thomas Hickey on winning the jackpot of 5,800 Euro last week. It’s great to see it won by a local family who support the draw all the time. Edel Cuffe won 100 Euro, Marie Murphy & Emma Kiely won 50 Euro each, Charlotte Kirwan 30 Euro and Mark Casey 20 Euro. Next weeks jackpot is 4,000 Euro. Thanks for your ongoing support.
